In our animatic we have shown a rough idea of what we are aiming to do. We would like to use most of them ideas, improve them in some way and fit everything together.
We started off the Animatic with the boy sitting alone on a chair with a mic. I feel this would look quite successful if it was to fade out from a black background. In the animatic, straight after this shot, we have shown Taro and myself walking in one by one. Taro and I felt that this wouldn't be such a good idea as it would look a little tacky. Therefore we have come up with a new idea which we would like to shoot one day next week maybe. The shot we would like to change it to, is of me and Taro getting ready for a party in the bathroom. After getting ready we both walk down the stairs. From here the beat changes so we are going have a black shot and suddenly change to then scene of Taro, DJ Rav and myself in Birmingham dancing to the first part of the song.

What we are doing now...
For this project I am working with another girl named Taro. We are going to work together to produce a music video. We are both putting our ideas together and working from them. We are currently in the process of desiging the Digi-pack. The image in the previous post is of our chosen Digi-pack. Myself and Taro have planned out the digipack and have decided what we are going to put on it, how an where.
Also, we are planning to start shooting very soon. As Taro's uncle owns a studio, we have the permission to go up Birmingham to use their stage, lights etc. We was planning to go there this saturday, however the studio has been booked out, therefore we are going to have to find another date. We have already created a storyboard and an animatic, which will be uploaded to my blog asap!

8)Initial Gig venues/music outlets-how will you get their music heard?-
His music will be heard through radio stations and on his website where trailors of his upcoming films will be shown and heard. If he is feeling generous he may sing a short line from his new releases at music festivals and other gigs.
9)Any aliances suggested or already forged-how will these be exploited?
10)How do you propose to get the press involved?
11)Practical issues -His target audience will be aimed at a variety of ages. Starting from young teenagers to adults in their mid thirty's. This is because his music is up-beat, so it will be something teenagers will like and adults will also enjoy. They will consist of a variety of different topics, some which will interest teenagers more and others which adults will prefer. The merchandising will be done by a professional merchandiser. This will make the artist and his website look alot more professional. This will make the public akknowledge the new smart and elegant artist, also his status. His style of a CD digipack would consist of four flaps coming out from either side giving the consumer relevant information about the new artist on the block 'DJ Rav.' The colours will be bold and elegant which will relate to his smart personality.

500 word Textual Analysis of Devdas - Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka
I have chosen to write a case study on the music video 'Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka' from the film Devdas. I am going to explain why i have chosen this video and what i think has attracted me to it.
Aishwarya Rai is using the candle to represent her longing beloved. The music video starts off with a candle which a series of ladies try to blow out but do not succeed. This shows that her love is ever lasting and nothing can put it out like the flame on her candle. She later sings 'A gust of wind is coming to blow out my candle, this flame of my longing beloved, but it shall never be put out.' This shows that even powerful wind can not defeat her strong feeling for her beloved one.
I like the way Aishwarya Rai is center of attention throughout the whole video.

Research into a record label
Epic Records is an American record label. It is owned and operated by Sony Music Entertainment. Epic was launched originally as a jazz and classical music label in 1953 by CBS and was eventually expanded to several genres of music. The label manages several imprints as well.
By 1960, the label's musical base was expanded to include all genres of music and became an avenue for Columbia's A&R department to sign newer artists and avoid "overstuffing" the larger sister Columbia label, which at the time leaned on signing better known or already established artists. Many of Epic's signings were newer pop, Rock & Roll, and R&B artists in nature, where Columbia had better known "mainstream" popular artists.
Ten years later, Epic earned its first gold records and developed into a formidable hit-making force in rock and roll, R&B and country music. Among its many acts, it included Roy Hamilton, Bobby Vinton, The Dave Clark Five, The Hollies, Tammy Wynette, Donovan, The Yardbirds, Lulu, and Jeff Beck. Several of the British artists on the Epic roster in the 1960s were the result of Epic's distribution deal with EMI in which Epic recordings were issued by EMI on the Columbia label before the contract with EMI expired at which point CBS Records formed a British Epic Records branch to market Epic label material.
There are many epic records artists, such as:
Alexandra Burke
Natasha Bedingfield
The Jacksons
Michael Jackson
Sean kingston
Cindi Lauper
Jennifer Lopez
Oasis
Kelly Ozbourne
Omarion
Shakira
Scouting for girls
Jessica Simpson
..and many more!

Case study of a music act focussing on how their image has been created/sustained
I am going to be foccusing on 'Madhuri Dixit', the main dancer in the film 'Aaja Nachle'. I am going to talk about how her image is created and sustained.
Throughout the music video we can see perfectly that 'Madhuri Dixit' is the main dancer. Her image in created and sustained in many ways.
Madhuri Dixit is shown alone at the start of the video. A cilluete of her is shown in front of the moon. As she dances away we can hear the audience cheering for her. From this we can see that she is the main focus.
From the cilluete we start to see parts of her body such as her feet, eyes and arm/leg movements. This is effective towards the viewers as they can see every detail of her body. Also jingle bells are used to get the viewers attention. I find that this is quite successful in the video as the bells sound so beautiful as they jingle with the beat of her moves. This shows us were all the focus should be.
We then see Madhuri Dixit from a long shot in the centre of the dance floor. Then gradually is joined by other dancers. However, Madhuri Dixit is a little different from the others, as she remains in the centre and is the only one with her hair down loose and also wearin blue indian clothing. Whereas the other dancers are wearing grey and all have their hair slick back. Also we can see that Madhuri Dixit is the only dancer who is lip syncing. From this we know that she is the main dancer/singer.
Madhuri Dixit is shown in more detail and in-focus than the other dancers. The viewers can see this as Madhuri Dixit's beauty catches your eyes. This is perfectly clear to te viewer that her image is more attractive than other dancers by purpose. We can see this as when they are all dancing Madhuri Dixit's hair is blowing back.
The camera follows Madhuri Dixit as she dances around the dance floor. She is also slightly forward compared to the others.
I have now come the conclusion of this case study and have come to the answer of Madhuri Dixit's image being modest, classic and very traditional. This is how I Madhuri's image is created an sustained.

Case study/presentation of a music video director
I am looking into many bollywood songs and music videos. Bollywood songs come from both films and individual artist(s). Nowadays, Indian artists have become more modern by introducing individual artists and groups which produce their own songs unlike the old typical tradition, which would be that every song would have to be born from a bollywood film. This is an old tradition for hindi songs, and is still on-going.
Because most hindi songs are from films, it is difficult to find who the music video directors are. After searching for hours, i finally figured that songs from films do not have music video directors. This job is done by the main director. This isn't really hard to believe as most hindi songs are jus dancing and are less complicated than english music videos.
I am interested in both film songs and songs sung by groups. So therefore i am going to talk about video directing for both.
Firstly i am going to talk about film songs. There is one particular film which has inspired me with its music video's, which is 'Jab we met'. The reasons why i find Jab we met music videos interesting is because they are quite traditional, just as any film song would be. The videos involve many people dressed in tradtional bright and colourful clothing doing traditional indian dance moves.
Imtiaz Ali is the director of the famous film 'Jab we met'. He uses brilliant camera techniques to make the video affective and continuous.
From watching the music video 'Nagada Nagada' i have noticed a few techniques he uses, such as compostioning the camera perfecting to get the framing correct to what he planned to have.
Imtiaz Ali also uses a vary of camera angles. The camera shots he uses work perfectly together. For example, the music video shows a close up of 'Shahid Kapoor's' face and foot, this is done to show each detail of the video individually. At one point we see a close up of Shahid Kapoor and we see Kareena kapoor in the background, however shahid is more in focus than kareena and gradually starts to focus on both of them. This is affective to the viewers as it says we should be looking at shahid first (depths of field). The way the camera is used to change from different angles is shot very smoothly the viewers can see this as the camera moves along to the beat of the music, this makes it look more effective and precise.
Another technique i have notied is that Imtiaz Ali doesn't switch from scene to scene. He only uses one huge set filled with many people dressed bright and colourful. This makes it less complicated and also more interesting as it shows the viewers how much you can get from just one scene.
Imtiaz Ali-director - WikiPedia
Imtiaz Ali born on 16th June 1971. He is an indian film director and writer. His 2007 film 'Jab we met', was a runaway hit in India.
Ali began his career directing serials including Kurushetraa for Zee TV and Imtihaana for Star Plus. After 7 years of doing so, he gradually moved on to Bollywood films starting with Socha Na Tha in 2005 with Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia. In 2004, he also made a cameo appearance in Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday [5]. Within 2 of his films he has proven he is one of the best among the romantic comedy movie director. Even the box office failure of the movie Socha Na Tha it was critically praised for the romance in the movie. His next film, Jab We Met, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, was a major hit at the Indian box office. His latest direction Love Aaj Kal, starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone was a huge box office success.

Jab We Met - Mauja Mauja
Jab We Met - Mauja Mauja: I have added this clip to my blog as I feel it is quite interesting and appealing.
I really like the idea of having many dancers in one framing, this is because everything looks perfect and symetrical as everyone is doing the same moves at the same time. However this can sometimes look a little too crowded.
Secondly, the colours of the clothing the dancers are wearing shows the individuality of each person as there is no uniform, and they are dressed in brights coloured outfits.
Also the camera angles are brilliantly put together. Although they are simple shots they look rather interesting. The zooming in and out/close ups and also the framing is very effective.
Lastly, i would like to talk about the set/studio. (1:00)At this stage of the music video, it shows a beautiful set. I really like this as the lighting makes the set look delicate and petite. In the rest of the clip, the dancers are dancing on a stage. This doesn't look very attractive as it is quite unusual for music videos to be set on a stage. However, because there are alot of people in the framing, it doesn't really matter as the focus is mainly on the dancers and the two main singers.

Glogster
This is my Glogster which I have created on "www.glogster.com". The reason why I have included this on my blog is because it shows most of my ideas on to one page. It's pretty similar to a moodboard. I have included videos, pictures and artist names which relate to the music genre I am interested in. (Bhangra/bollywood music).

Intro..
Hey! My names Monica. I am going to be using this blog to uplaod my research, analysis and the development of my own music video. I am also going to add my own oppinions to whatever it is I post. I am going to be very critical in what I add, as this would show and guide me to what I want to achieve from this project.
